"Charm Of Ephrata

Original Watercolor

 12 3/4 x 16'

Charm of Ephrata' is an Ephrata, PA USA street scene in the heart of Lancaster County, well known for its Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish traditions.

This beautiful watercolor of a street scene in the small town of Ephrata Pennsylvania - located in Northern Lancaster County.

So quaint and appealing with its fancy corbels on the porch roof, it screams 'Americana'!! Inspired by my love of the Victorian era, I just had to paint this grand beauty!

The building in the foreground is "Sheldon's Frame and Gallery".

Photographic reference by gracious permission of Frances Robinson from Delmar, MD.

About the Materials

  • The Paints used are ALL the highest quality pigments of a 'AA' or 'A' light-fast rating. I use only 'Artist Grade' watercolor pigments, mostly Winsor & Newton,  Holbein, and Schmincke watercolors. Having researched thoroughly the chemistry and qualities of watercolors pigments in the 1990's,  it was my decision was to eliminate all known non light-fast pigments from my palette. Doing so has dramatically reduced fading of my watercolors!

The Paper:

  • The Paper used is always the highest 'Artist Grade' either Fabriano or Arches professional watercolor paper. These are mould-made, 100% Cotton Rag Acid Free papers of either 140lb stretched or 300lb weight to prevent buckling.
